RECORDING ...

Jacqueline’s CD “Safer than a Baby”, was recorded in Jac’s old wooden cottage in Marrickville. She and Julia had the idea that they would like to present the songs from the space they had spent most of their time growing in. The idea got more exciting when Kath Naunton, from db Mastering, got on board the project and set up in the kitchen. They went for the “old” valve front end, going down onto Protools.

3 days setting up running through the songs and recording them live. Julia had placed glass sliding doors between the lounge and bedrooms, so that eye contact and playing together remained. Merv Sequera, joined them in the small hall in between and put some double bass on board a few songs.

Jac used her old Maton Coolibah and a beautiful borrowed Taylor 514. Julia her Ludwig kit, that had belonged to her late great drum teacher Gerry Sayer. Brushes and strings and voice, all lying down together.

After the songs sat for a few months, the next person to handle the tracks was the very, very cool Jim Blackfoot from Audioscapes in Newtown. Jim put it up in his studio and a couple of BVs were added, but it still remains a live album. Mastered and here we go. It has been a long process of stop and start. Jac would like to send love out to all those people who helped this finally happen.

The Next album has already started its life. This will be a bigger album…maybe. Jac actually says she is getting smaller and more simple…we’ll see. It will be an album that concentrates on the soundscaping of the song. Maybe some special guests will even make an appearance.
